Day01

Drive to Dhulikhel and Hike to Namobuddha

Our 3-day journey to the outskirts of Kathmandu starts early in the morning with a scenic drive to Dhulikhel on a luxury tourist vehicle. Located just 30 km away from the city center, Dhulikhel is quite a popular destination for weekend getaways for Kathmandu residents.
As you drive to the hike’s starting point, you will climb a thousand steps, pass through Goukhushwar Mahadev Temple and Kali Temple, and reach Namobuddha. Your destination for the day is 10 kilometers away from Namobuddha and will take approximately four hours to reach. As soon as you reach the monastery, you can explore the area and have a meal with the monks there if you stay at the guest house.

Day02

Hike from Namobuddha to Balthali

The hike from Namobuddha will continue after breakfast early in the morning. On this day, we will reach Balthali village, passing through the Roshi River and the bridge over it. Passing through the terraced fields, green meadows, and stoned stairs, you will reach Balthali village.

It will take around 3 to 4 hours to hike down to the Balthali village, where we will rest the night. You will stay at Balthali Village Resort to enjoy the bird’s eye view of the green terraced fields and a backdrop of the Himalayas. After enjoying your lunch in the village, you can stroll around it and see the culture and traditions of the Newari settlements.

Day03

Explore Khopasi and Return to Kathmandu

Early the next day, we will wrap up our stay at Balthali and hike up to another Newari village in Panauti. The Khopasi village is a Newari settlement shaped like a triangle, with an idol of a serpent in each corner. 

The temples of this village also feature Newari-style wooden architecture. Some of the captivating temples and stupas in this village are the Brahmyani temple, Unamanta Bahirab temple, pagoda-style temple of Indreshwor Mahadev, and a white stupa. While observing these highlights of Panauti, we will take a ride back to Kathmandu,
